Last time, we left off with some romantic happenings in the Plain household...
And that's where we'll pick up.
Caroline, feeling just a bit left out, invited Dedric over for more than just a chess game.
She really wanted to get to know him.
They hit it off right away, and soon got so comfortable with each other that Caroline was massaging Dedric's back in all the right places.
Caroline couldn't help but to notice all the muscles in his back...
And before she even knew what was happening, the two were sharing their first kiss.
It was a whirlwind romance. Caroline was head over heels.
So much so that she popped the big question five minutes after their smooch in the foyer.
Dedric, perhaps blinded by the biggest diamond in all of sunset valley, said yes.
The two immediately began planning their wedding.
Caroline gave her mom the news. Jane was thrilled. She had wished to see Caroline get married before she died, and it was finally happening.
Caroline and Dedric were married the very next day in the front yard. It was a quaint ceremony with all of the family and some family friends in attendance.
Jane and Connor watched from their seats as the newly weds exchanged their vows and rings, while Evander stood by awkwardly (bless his heart). Evander's now ex-girlfriend, Nicola, and Micah's girlfriend, Malika, were also in attendance. Some random people - I'm looking at you old guy with dreads - also showed up.
Mr. and Mrs. Plain stayed out dancing nearly all night beneath the stars.
The rest of the night was spent whoohooing in Caroline's pink and periwinkle childhood bedroom.
Dedric's traits are unlucky, clumsy, vegetarian, heavy sleeper, and easily impressed. His lifetime wish is to be the CEO of a Mega Corporation. Hence the LTW, I gave him a professional-looking makeover. I think he's so interesting looking.
He and Caroline will have some cool looking babies.
Meanwhile, I was so busy oogling over Caroline and Dedric's wedding ceremony that I totally forgot it was Evander's birthday. He grew up unnoticed in the hallway. Poor Evander.
Maybe his sucky birthday experience is why he grew up with the over emotional trait.
And sweet Jesus, did he grow up into a looker. Like with Caroline, I see so much of Jane in him, but I think I see a bit of Connor, too. I still don't know where he got that black hair from, though.
I adore Evander. He's such a stud, and he sure knows how to rock a tuxedo.
The next day at graduation, Evander was excited to be rewarded with class valedictorian and was voted Most Likely to Write Best-Selling Novels.
Based on this picture, he was feeling pretty darn good. Look how cute his happy face is!
At home for the next week or so, things were moving along gracefully.
Jane finally accomplished her LTW of Master of the Arts, so she and Connor decided it was time to spend their numbered years together in peace. Jane put down the paintbrush and Connor shut his laptop for good.
The next however many days they had left together would be spent in each other's company.
Dedric, meanwhile, was moving up in his career quickly. I didn't know before Caroline married him into the family, but he has a business degree, so it's helped him to move up the ranks fairly quickly with a huge salary.
I expect he'll reach his LTW in no time.
Micah, who we haven't see in a while, is finishing up his last night of being a teen at prom. He and Malika are going together. I hope their relationship lasts once he moves out.
The next morning, everyone gathers around to celebrate Micah's birthday.
But before he can even blow the candles out, tragedy strikes... Connor, at 93 years old, dies right in the middle of his youngest son's birthday celebration.
He pleads with Grim for his life, but to no avail.
Everyone in the house is distraught by the loss.
Connor is buried in the courtyard. Jane is so heartbroken. I am, too.
I didn't think I would be this sad about Connor dying, but I feel bad. He didn't do much but sit at his computer and write, but I'm gonna miss the old guy.
Poor Jane. :(
Not wanting to face the sadness in the house, Micah decides it would be best to move out.
He moves into a cute little beach house next door to his cousin, Araceli Ursine, and the rest of the family is left to mourn.
For the first time in many, many years, Jane sleeps alone...
And as if it can't get any worse, that same night, a burglar breaks into the house!
Dedric quickly takes on the burglar, and he totally kicks her butt. She leaves the house with her tail between her legs and doesn't steal a single thing.
The next morning, Jane thanks Dedric for his heroic deed. She breaks down crying, leaning on her new son-in-law for support. It's a moment of bonding for them, and Jane is thankful that her only daughter married such a good guy.
Meanwhile, in the bathroom across the hall...
Caroline was feeling a bit of nausea. Maybe Jane would see her first grandchild before her time comes.
I sent the Plains out on the town to escape the sad atmosphere. Jane went to have a nice lunch at the bistro, Caroline and Dedric went on a quiet date, and Evander was sent to search for a mate the theater to maybe catch a movie.
Sitting on a bench outside of the theater was a pretty young woman. She looked athletic, and Evander was instantly attracted to her.
Evander went over and introduced himself. He learned the pretty lady was named Willa Frederick, a newbie in the political sphere of Sunset Valley.
The friendly conversation quickly turned flirty. Evander and Willa really seemed to like each other.
Also at the theater was Micah, who was looking particularly buff and very much like his dad.
By sunset, Evander and Willa were getting very close, physically and otherwise.
Jane and Micah are arguing about something in the background. Sigh. Micah is just so hard to like.
Feeling like it's now or never, Evander gets down on one knee right there in the plaza and asks Willa to be his wife. To my surprise, she accepts!
Congratulations to the beautiful couple.
Before either of them could change their mind, the two of them were whisked away to the beach just in time to see the sun set and the stars come out.
I took so many pictures. It was just too pretty outside not to take advantage of the opportunity for quality pictures.
The two exchanged rings and promises under the quiet moonlight.
Willa moved into the Plain household that night.
I created a new master bedroom for the newly weds to share.
The house has undergone quite a bit of construction. Expect more pictures of that to come in the next few chapters!
While on a romantic dinner date with Dedric, Caroline discovers that her nausea wasn't just from some old grapes pancakes; she's pregnant!
Outside of the restaurant, she shares the news with Dedric, who is ecstatic. The third generation is about to make its first appearance!
I love this couple so much. They really are fond of each other. It reminds me of Jane and Connor's relationship.
The next morning, Caroline shares the happy news with her mom. It's the happiest news Jane has received in a while. She'll get to meet a grandchild before she goes to join her husband in the afterlife, after all.
Speaking of Connor, sometimes he visits Jane at night. She wasn't even scared the first time she saw him in ghost form. I catch them autonomously hugging all the time when Connor comes back to visit.
It's sweet and sad.
In the meantime, Dedric is progressing in his career. He gets promoted every other workday at this point.
I also gave Willa a makeover. I wanted to give her a new look that better suited her political aspirations. I wanted a look that says, "I'm gonna run the world."
I forgot to mention that Willa's LTW is to be Leader of the Free World, and her traits are unlucky, great kisser, schmoozer, good, and ambitious.
Willa and her mother-in-law spend time together by reading together on the loveseat. Willa is desperately trying to catch up in her charisma skill and Jane is pretty bored these days without Connor around to suck face with.
Caroline is getting bigger by the day. For a while, I was wondering if maybe she was carrying multiples in that large stomach of hers.
The very next morning, during a game of chess with her husband, Caroline went into labor.
Dedric rushed her to the hospital after having a brief, obligatory meltdown.
Caroline had a baby boy, whom she and Dedric named Martin after his father, Marty Keaton.
But before Caroline and Dedric could even get home so that Grandma Jane could meet her first grandchild, her time had come.
She greeted death with grace. She was eager to be with her husband again, even though she would miss her children and her new grandson.
She accepted the life which she had left. It was a full life. She had raised three children, accomplished her biggest hopes and dreams, married the love of her life, and even had become a grandma.
It may not have been a glamorous life, or even one of fortune or fame. But it was certainly anything but plain, and for that, she was content.
She went with Grim easily, despite my unwillingness for her to go. :(
And just like that, the end of the first generation had come to a close. I'll certainly miss our founder, but I know she and Connor will be back to visit pretty often.
Jane now passes down the Plain legacy to her son, Evander and his wife, Willa.
----
I'm so bummed about losing Jane and Connor both now, but I'm super excited for what is next for this family!
